Breast Lift or Mastopexy Indianapolis & Carmel
If you are interested in breast lift or mastopexy in Indianapolis or Carmel Indiana, Dr. Janet Turkle can help. She has found that over time, the natural aging process can cause a woman's breasts to sag and lose their shape and firmness. These changes can also result from pregnancy, breast-feeding, weight fluctuations, and heredity. A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that reshapes and lifts a woman's breasts. After the breast lift procedure at our Indianapolis practice, women can expect firmer, shapelier and more youthful looking breasts.
A breast lift, or mastopexy, lifts and reshapes the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue. Sometimes the areola (the pigmented skin around the nipple) becomes enlarged over time and may be reduced to keep it in proportion with the rest of the body.
A breast lift may be appropriate for a female breast that:
- Has lost firmness and skin elasticity
- Sags or is pendulous
- Has a flat, elongated shape
- Has stretched skin and an enlarged areola
- Has a nipple that falls below the breast crease
- Has a nipple and areola that point downward
Approximate price for breast lift in Indianapolis:
Breast Lift Cost: $5,100-$5,300 This will include consultation, surgeon's fee, facility fee, anesthesia and post-operative visits.
The Breast Lift Surgery
Traditional Breast Lift
In the most common breast lift procedure at our Indianapolis practice, the surgeon makes an anchor shaped incision along the natural contour of the breast. Working through this incision, the surgeon sculpts the skin and tissue and repositions the nipple to give the breast a new and youthful appearance. Breast lift is usually done on an outpatient basis. Cessation of all nicotine products is strongly urged three weeks pre and post operatively. Smoking before or following breast lift surgery increases the visibility of scarring and causes problems with healing.
Alternative Procedures
Donut Breast Lift
A "doughnut breast lift" or "donut breast lift" can also be performed, which requires less tissue removal and involves a much quicker recovery time. In this breast lift procedure, the surgeon makes a circular incision around the areola, and a doughnut shaped area of skin is removed. The remaining skin is tightened which lifts the breasts.
After Breast Lift Surgery
Once the incisions have been closed and taped, a surgical bra is applied. After breast lift surgery, postoperative discomfort may be greatly reduced through medication. Swelling gradually subsides. A return to normal light activity is possible as soon as you feel ready, usually within several days.
